About Me
Hey there! I'm Sonit, a sophomore at UIUC majoring in Computer Science and Astronomy. I'm really into software engineering, robotics, and AI research. Basically anything where I can build cool stuff that pushes boundaries.
Python is my home base. It’s the language I think in when I’m sketching ideas, prototyping fast, or digging into something complex. I love how expressive it is, how much you can do with a few clean lines, and how deep the ecosystem goes once you really start exploring it. A lot of my projects and research work end up there for a reason.
When I'm not coding, you'll find me reading up on the latest astronomy discoveries, catching movies, running badminton rallies in the gym, or playing tabla. Life's too short not to explore everything that fascinates you, right?
Projects
Work Experience
Forward Data Lab at UIUC
- >>Built a fine-grained evaluation framework for controllable long-form text generation, decomposing complex instructions into atomic constraints and automatically scoring 1,000+ model outputs to identify structural failures, progression errors, and constraint sensitivity across models.
National Organization for Business and Engineering (NOBE)
- >>Led an 8-person team to design and ship a React web platform and React Native app used by 1,000+ users, driving sprint planning, technical direction, client alignment, and rigorous code reviews to ensure high-quality, on-time releases.
National Organization for Business and Engineering (NOBE)
- >>Developed a Python-powered AI system providing real-time corrective feedback during workouts and built a React + Tailwind dashboard to visualize EMG signals and key metrics, while managing the codebase with 20+ GitHub PRs to keep development smooth and maintainable.
Gen3 Learning
- >>Built and deployed a React platform for student registration, class participation, and instructor communication, managing the full development lifecycle with AWS CodeCommit, CLI, and Agile workflows from ideation to production.
